Sometimes, during the monotonous hours of adulthood, I can’t help but think what a horrible person I am. I don’t mean this in the “clubbing baby seals” way, but in a more general “you’re not living up to expectations” way. It could be a psychological shortcoming, thinking that I’m never good enough. More likely, though, it’s the truth.
The Recap and Looking Forward
Near the end of 2009, I wrote down forty things I wanted to do by the time I turned forty years old. In 2010 I took some baby steps and some decent strides towards getting them done. I also wasted a lot of time, but we’re not going to focus on that right now.
The Thing I Didn’t Want To Talk About
For the longest time, I was afraid to write about a couple of very important items on my 40×40 list. After talking it over with the wife, we’ve decided that I was probably being overly cautious. This decision is a good thing, because I really need to write down some thoughts about what we’ve been doing. It helps me.
So. Guess what. I made something.
The Appearance of Conversion
Don’t ask me why, because I don’t know, but I have wanted to own a Mac for some time. Maybe it’s because they’re shiny and expensive. Maybe it’s because they’re supposed to “just work.” Maybe I was sucked in by the Think Different and I’m a Mac ad campaigns. Maybe because the stigma is that creators use Macs—and I want to create things. I’m not sure it really matters why, because in the end I wanted to own a Mac bad enough to write it down. So I wrote it down, figuring that it would be quite some time before I ever got around to actually buying one.
The ‘K’ Alphabet Date: King for a Day
So, our K alphabet date was coined “King for a Day”. Guess who got to play the role of king? That’s right: me, baby. We got to do whatever I wanted for our entire date and she just had to go along with it. Them’s the rules. This apparently means we didn’t take any pictures, which becomes important later. But, I guess that’s just how I roll.
The ‘J’ Alphabet Date: Newlyweds In Vegas

I’ve been struggling with how to write this one up. It was big and important and quaint and cheesy all rolled into a beautiful ball, but seeing as how Heather has already written up the ‘K’ date, I need to just put aside whatever grandiose plan I was hatching and wander my way through this. Aimlessly, some might say I have a habit of doing.
The Quick Thank You

Well, another Song Fu has almost finished. It’s down to the final two. I have yet to decide whether or not I will submit a shadow entry for this round.
I may have gotten the lowest number of votes over all three rounds (including someone who skipped two of the three rounds), but I finished all three rounds with recorded demos. I consider that one hell of an accomplishment.
I didn’t do it alone.
The Bringing Of The Fu
I submitted my entry for round 1 of Masters of Song Fu #6 on Sunday. Voting has gone live, so you should head over and give the songs a listen and vote for your five favorites.
I’m fairly pleased with my song for this round—that’s not happy by any means, though.
The ‘I’ Alphabet Date: Doing Downtown Indianapolis Again

Heather and I are having so much fun with our alphabet dating project that we may seem to repeat ourselves with repetition. However, you may keep your trust in us. Alas, we are not repeating ourselves; we are merely using the same city backdrop for numerous alphabet dates. It’s different. Believe me.
