“Let’s see if I can write every day for a week.”
I did not write a post yesterday. By strict standards, I did not reach the goal of writing every day for a week. I could argue that since I wrote five things in five days, I wrote for a work week. Or I could just accept the fact that I failed at that specific goal.
What I did succeed at was writing for five days in a row. I now have five more days of writing practice under my belt. And this is nothing to sneeze at.
So I’ll take what I have done, and try again.
What I need to learn is that sometimes goals get in the way. I’m very good at putting smaller, ultimately disruptive tasks in my own path. Or going the other direction, and thinking too big, and worrying about things far out of scope. In short, I’m really good at finding ways to not be working on the thing I’m working on.
Right now I’m so far gone I need to work on something small. Like these little blog posts.
