Christmas is probably my favorite holiday. I’m not a religious guy, but I love all the trees, the lights, and the festivities we do at home and in our small town. We have decorating traditions. We put up multiple Christmas trees. We do a bit of carolling (which I should really learn to accompany with my uke). There’s also all of the food. And I blast Christmas music all through December—earlier, when I can get away with it.
This holiday season has started under a bit of a cloud, though. Things aren’t lining up as nice as I would like, and it’s causing a fair amount of stress. A lot of stress, actually.
But I’m still trying to enjoy Christmas. And honestly, most of that comes in the form of music. Heather calls it “Michael Bublé season”, but it also involves a fair bit of 8-bit Christmas, and Jonathan Coulton and John Roderick’s One Christmas at a Time. There’s also Elvis.
I even managed to enjoy myself at a Christmas musical at Beef and Boards, which Children’s Bureau invited us to for their Foster Parent Appreciation Night. I’m not even a fan of musicals.
But I do love me some Christmas.
