This is another song I’ve been working on. I like the way it’s turning out, but I think I need some vocal training or something to pull it off, um… properly? That’s one of the struggles I have with art: “How do you know when it’s right?” Is art ever really done? I sure as hell don’t know when it’s done. Or if you can even call it art.
I’ve got a couple other songs I’m working on and once I get those to more of a finished state, I get to start the adventure of recording. I want to put together a self-produced EP soon. This is just one more step towards that goal.
Anywho, here is an approximation of the lyrics:
so here you stand
o, where
are we farther than
our last fare?
your stones throw
was a boomerang
and i swear
that there’s no
ground to hold
and you’re not so bold
with regret on your side
it’s been so long
you were so wrong
and here we stand
our feelings barred
against the plan
with kindness scarred
“You were told,”
they scolded
while we stack cans
in our house of shards
where the touches of old
have turned callous and cold
and we lost all control
from the regret at our sides
it’s been so long
we were so wrong
I stole
stole away
to where dulled end of principles fray
unable to confide
with the regret at my side
it’s been so long
I was so wrong
